چکیده
background: pregnancy causes a small increase in risk of venous thromboembolism (vte), but a large increase in concern upon presentation during cesarean section with symptoms of pulmonary embolism (pe). pulmonary embolism clinical manifestations during spinal anesthesia could be misleading. we have presented 2 interesting cases of pregnant women underwent spinal anesthesia for cesarean section and manifested with non-specific clinical symptoms of pe during spinal anesthesia mistaken for high spinal scenarios. cases report : two young pregnant women candidate for cesarean section underwent spinal anesthesia. during surgery, patient grows chest discomfort and dyspnea. anesthesiologist misleaded for high spinal but observed patients during surgery and in recovery. further investigation detected pulmonary embolism which was further treated in icu and patients were discharged subsequently. c onclusion: anesthesiologists cannot safely rule out pulmonary embolism during spinal anesthesia in cesarean section without additional testing, at least not in pregnant women with a relatively high risk of pe.

متن کاملPregnant Women Positioning in Spinal Anesthesia for Cesarean Section: Integrative Review REVIEW
Results: The sample of 8 articles showed that the fastest onset of blockade in pregnant women occurs in the lateral horizontal decubitus position and in the sitting position with legs downwards. Lateral decubitus with elevated head presented insufficient blockade. Lateral position was related to greater comfort, and its maintenance for 15 minutes before the supine position, after infiltration w...
متن کاملINCIDENCE OF SHIVERING DURING CESAREAN SECTION IN PATIENTS UNDER SPINAL ANESTHESIA WITH OR WITHOUT FENTANYL
Background & Aims: Postoperative shivering is one of the common complications of surgery in the recovery room, with an incidence rate of about 50-60% in various reports. Postoperative chills usually result in unwanted hypothermia during operation. Materials & Methods: In this study, patients were divided randomly (after selecting one of 32 card containing coatings) into intervention group (n=4...
متن کاملEvaluation of the reasons of fear in spinal anesthesia during cesarean section
Background: Spinal anesthesia is a type of neuraxial anesthesia that brings ample benefits. However, due to the fear of this type of anesthesia, many pregnant people refuse to experience it. In this study, we aimed to investigate the levels and causes of fear of spinal anesthesia in candidates for cesarean section. Methods: The current study is a cross-sctional study performed on 67 patients u...
متن کاملEffect of preoperative warming during cesarean section under spinal anesthesia
BACKGROUND Postoperative hypothermia and shivering is a frequent event in patients during cesarean section under spinal anesthesia. We assessed the effect of preoperative warming during cesarean delivery under spinal anesthesia for prevention of hypothermia and shivering. METHODS Forty five patients undergoing elective cesarean section were randomly assigned to three groups. Group F received ...
متن کاملMINIDOSE BUPIVACAINE – FENTANYL SPINAL ANESTHESIA FOR CESAREAN SECTION IN PREECLAMPTIC PARTURIENTS
ABSTRACT Background: Spinal anesthesia for cesarean section is associated with a high incidence of hypotension. The synergism between intrathecal opioids and local anesthetics may make it possible to achieve reliable spinal anesthesia with minimal hypotension using a minidose of local anesthetic. Methods: Forty-four preeclamptic parturients undergoing cesarean section were randomized in two gr...
